THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE MULLINGAR SUMMER CAMPS which ran from 1992 to 2019, and to all the families who entrusted your children to our care. We had great pleasure in looking after all of you and working each year with our wonderful teams of instructors and monitors. We hope you / your children got pleasure and benefit from their stays with us.

For 2022, and going forward, we are putting our focus on shows and events and there will not be any summer camps. You will be very welcome to call in any time.

International young riders have been coming to Mullingar every summer since 1992. This is the ideal opportunity for the horse loving teenager to improve his/her riding and their knowledge and care of horses, and to have fun in a friendly, safe and open environment, surrounded by horses and equestrian activity.

The students ride between 09.00 and 12.30 each morning, and follow a progressive program of flatwork and jumping, as well as hacks, games and cross country.

Marina jumping lesson
English language classes take place in the afternoons. English language practice is an important part of the program. All of the activities are conducted through English, and the students are encouraged to engage in English language conversation. Their comprehension, and their ability to speak and ask questions, all improve as a consequence.

Show jumping and cross country are our specialities, and at Mullingar we make it feel so easy!

Beginners quickly become confident, novices make rapid progress, and intermediates and open riders learn the finer points.

There is a weekly ‘training show’ open to everyone each Friday at the equestrian centre, and our guests participate as part of their holiday program.

Our guests may also register with ‘Show Jumping Ireland’ whilst here on holiday and take part in the registered Shows.

We recommend that students come for at least two weeks, or longer if possible.

Holiday Packages

Option 1 | English Language Tuition and Horseriding

(15 hours English and 15 hours horse riding/week)

Three hours of English each afternoon, Monday to Friday. Our English program includes one hour of grammar revision, followed by an hour of conversational English and an hour of games through English. Students are encouraged to choose the topics for discussion e.g. equestrian vocabulary, sports, Irish culture and food, etc. The English lessons are taught by a university trained teacher with a qualification in English language teaching (TEFL) and many years teaching experience.

Mullingar Equestrian Center offers excellent facilities, horses and instruction to enable the rider to learn to ride with style and confidence. Instruction is pupil centred, and designed to progress the rider on from his/her present level. The students are assessed on their first morning and, following assessment, the instructors construct a program of lessons and pleasure riding according to the students’ riding level and their interests.

The centre accommodates a maximum of 24 students. We get to know all of our students individually, and it is our objective that every one of them has a happy and beneficial stay.
